Regional support programmes are a good means of activating communities.

Support programmes framework created by the state. By developing projects 
community members decide what to safeguard and how to do it in line with the spirit of the convention. Community representatives are part of the board that grants the support.
 
Support programmes are:
• Regional support programmes (7)
• Support programm for umbrella organisations (folk culture NGO-s) and for mentortrainings
• Support programm for folk festivals
• Support programm for national costumes
• ICH support programm

Aims of the regional support programmes are:

• Safeguarding intangible and preserving tangible heritage
• Revitalising ICH
• Increasing the number of people who participate in the local culture
• Strengthening the ties between young people and their ancestors’ language and cultural heritage

 

Local communities apply for funding. Domains eligible for support are:

•Traditional culture
•Modern activities based on traditional culture
•Language and education
